Who can I expect to be going on the mission trip with me?

Typically, the team is comprised of 4 to 12 members. The other members may include optometrists, optometry students, pre-optometry students, various health care professionals, and youth ministers.

How long is each mission trip?

Mission trips can range from 3 days to 3 weeks, depending on the time of year.

Will I receive any training prior to the mission trip?

A.

Training sessions are scheduled prior to the trip in order to adequately prepare you to serve in your respective ministry and to allow you to get to know your fellow team members you will be serving with.

What are the living arrangements?

Local hosts have arranged housing in dormitories, church community centers, and hotels. Most locations will have electricity and running water.

What is a typical day like?

A.

Clinic hours can vary from 4-10 hours a day, depending on the patient population. On a two-week trip, usually there are 10 clinic days and 4 free days allowed for travel and sightseeing.

Who leads each mission trip?

A.

—A U.S.-licensed optometrist will lead each trip. See the Lord works diligently with the local organizations to maximize safety, efficiency, and charity.

How much does a mission trip cost?

A.

The total cost for a mission trip varies from $100 to $3000 USD per person (including airfare). This amount includes all project costs, food, lodging, transportation, and donations to local hosts. The only expenses not covered are costs during sightseeing days, for example, costs of souvenirs.  If you already plan on being in Taiwan or you reside in Taiwan, please email us at info@seethelord.org and we would be happy to discuss your individualized cost. You are provided with a personal webpage to fundraise for this cost.

Below are our mission trip costs for 2016:

April, Utah: $250 USD (excludes airfare)

May, Fresno: $150 USD

June, Nepal: TBD

Aug, Taiwan: $1,750 USD (includes airfare)

Dec, Taiwan: $2,300 USD (includes airfare)

How do I apply for a mission trip?

A.

Simply register and then login. Once you have logged in, you can select the type of application (Optometrist, Optometry Student, or College Student). The Board of Directors will review the application and you will receive an email shortly after the official application deadline with their decision.
